Five Study Reminders

FIVE STUDY REMINDERS

[These five terms are originally from the “Zhong Yong” – chapter 31 of the Book of Rites.]

博學。足多功夫
審問。非口問是聽勁
愼思。時時想念
明擺。生生不已
篤行。如天行健
[1] Learn abundantly. (Sufficient learning will lead to a great deal of skill.)
[2] Inquire meticulously. (This does not have to do with querying verbally, but with listening to energy.)
[3] Ponder wholeheartedly. (Think about the material constantly.)
[4] Discriminate clearly. (New things will always continue to come at you [and you should keep yourself from being distracted by things that are not important].)
[5] Practice sincerely. (“Nature acts with vigor. [Likewise a gentleman ceaselessly improves himself.]” – Hexagram 1 of the Book of Changes)

Translation by Paul Brennan.

Rooted and Rising

May 18, 2017 Patrick Smith

To watch the sunrise from the bottom of the sea.

Jimi Hendrix

Arriving on the beach at 5:40 am today we were once again blessed to observe the sunrise. Clouds changing colors over a gentle surf and sea birds chantingtheir sutras to greet the day.  Gently we began our Qi Gong practice, standing rooted to the Earth, motivated to cultivate our energy for ourselves and the world. Breathing as our arms floated towards the sky, breathing out and letting go.  Rooted, our energy rising, Joann & I continue to practice.

Be at here on the Atlantic Ocean, the Andaman Sea in Maylasia, Sligo Creek or Pine Lake back home practicing by water and sunrise always offers great energy and joy.  Moving effortlessly, gathering, directing and circulating Qi impacts all that I am.  I am ever so grateful for the gift of practice and to share this with my favorite person in the whole world.

This Saturday May 20th we will be offering a Day of Mindfulness.  Join us for Qi Gong, meditation and silence.  More information available here.
